@alyx why is it unreasonable to think that I would be able to download files I uploaded myself to Google Play Music from YouTube Music? This was a feature in Google Play Music.

Because it was announced for a long time that this wouldn't be a feature anymore, that Youtube Music would have nothing in common with Play Music. There's a reason they went with the Youtube branding. They want to signal that this was done from scratch, it's not actually a continuation of Play Music.
