@deadheat It's not free-to-play, you can still buy it on Steam for example. Epic is just giving it away this week, as part of their every-week-a-free-game thing. But since Rage 2 is not exactly an old game, I find this really surprising.
Some years ago, Playstation owners who had signed up for PSN+ (paid subscription required for playing anything on multiplayer, extremely scummy policy from Soyny) you would get a free game every week or month as long as you were on PSN+, but it was always some garbage unknown game.
@deadheat A lot of what Epic gives out are indie titles, but every once in a while they give out a decent AAA too. It's just that they're usually older games, that aren't actively being played much.
