I friend of mine discovered it first and recommended it to me. Now that I think about it, he was a bit more of a romantic than me back then. He REALLY enjoyed it and was quite insistent that I watch it.

I don't have any particular issue with watching "foreign films". I already grew up watching every movie, including Hollywood, with subtitles, since Romania didn't have a practice of dubbing anything. Even now, we only dub children's movies and shows, like Disney and Pixar stuff. And there were some italian and french movies that were quite popular here when I was growing up.
