You know what's the really hilarious thing about all the "the lockdowns are destroying muh economy"? If y'all had actually respected the measures, the economy wouldn't have suffered half as much as it did. Because, once again, the plan was to do a really hard but short enough lockdown (let's say a month), then after the case numbers dropped enough, release the lockdown, and let things work normal enough for a while, until the case numbers begin to rise a lot again. Then introduce the lockdown again, rinse and repeat.
But Americans had to be stubborn morons. Of course measures didn't work properly, when lockdowns were never fully instituted and a bunch of y'all couldn't be bothered to wear a mask for a few hours a day.
The consequence? You constantly had this half-assed lockdown that completely stopped parts of your economy for an entire year. Don't know about you, but I did manage to eat in a restaurant last year. Even gyms had periods of time when they could open.
You morons can't even imagine how draconian the initial lockdown period was over here. But guess what, we haven't been anywhere near that same level ever since, because that lockdown accomplished what was needed of it. Measures were relaxed, the summer & autumn was pretty normal, and when numbers rose again to unmanageable levels, a return of certain lockdown measures helped reduce the numbers by a lot once again.
