Ok I was trying to run a simple script on startup, I see now why you people hate GNOME and systemd. :blob_cat:

@Xalef
Haven't used Gnome in ages, so can't remember if it had any specific way to do it. For my KDE I just need to drop the script in /.config/autostart-scripts.
Using systemd for this is complicated because it's basically overkill. It's like trying to kill a mosquito with a nuke.

@alyx yeah, specially for what I want to do which is just start up rclone in like two lines. In KDE is as easy as opening up the GUI for startup apps and select the script from there. On GNOME the easiest way to do it is making a .desktop file that links to the script and then either put it directly into the start up folder or use gnome-tweaks to select it. I didn't wanted to bother with gnome so I looked into ways to do it directly initrc I think was the other thing that could solve my problem also as easy as just putting the script on a folder and reload, but that didn't work because my distro uses systemd so the way is to do or run that script as a service that at first it looked easy and doable enough, then when from my viewpoint it was supposed to work it didn't and turned out I had to mess a lot with static configuration files preloaded, logs, and a lot of fucking flags for a program that I barely know and use, so the .service file turned out to be gigantic compared to the .desktop files, and of those both alternatives that are bullshit I had to take the lesser one which was the GNOME one.

It just feels like unnecessary bullshit imo, compared to KDE.
