From what I heard Valve has absolutely no intention of stopping people from installing another OS on that thing. So no, from the info I've seen so far, there isn't any jail to jailbreak. And the person I know this from has been talking about Valve working on a portable Switch-like console, that will use Proton, for a while now.

I swear I remember hearing about something including protondb info so people can be better informed when deciding on a game... can't remember if it was about Steam or not.
So far I understand Valve is promising that ALL the games in their catalog are supported at launch. So I can only assume that they've done some testing with the GabeGear and tweaked things so that things go more smoothly on their SteamOS than the random distros people use.

Yeah, it's definitely an overpromise, but I guess they're pretty confident in the progress they've made.
But at least, are they working on some stuff to make proton more friendly?
Like I said earlier, a built in protondb and an argument picker on top of being able to try other people's arguments from within steam would make it infinitely more usable IMO
