Don't think of it as begging. Think of it as a decentralized GoFundMe campaign, that doesn't use the servers of a corporation.

Seriously though, the simple fact that even after 9 months of being homeless, he was just $25 away from going back to a job is proof capitalism works better than the alternatives. Communism for instance just doesn't have the "get back on your feet" option implemented in it, because it inherently isn't based on meritocracy. If the state doesn't want you to have a job, you just don't.

As a side note, services like GoFundMe and Patreon might be some of the best additions to capitalism. It makes helping those in need so much easier, and after it matures some more, they might very well be adequate replacements for welfare systems.
