From what I know, these satellites have a whole range of cameras that are set up in different ways, depending on what they want to study. The ones that study the sun for general solar activity and spots will be darker. The ones that study solar flares will basically be overexposed so you can make out the flares. I don't even think most of these even record in the visible light spectrum. I think it's usually x-ray or something like that.
