How many times should I repeat this? You can't give an argument, especially not one that your "opposition" would consider coherent, until you make sure both parties in the discussion start from the same premise (which includes the same definitions of words). Otherwise, of course people won't be able to follow along, and they'll just call your argument incoherent.
@alyx I generally start any debate with definitions, because a lot of these discussions have different definition or one person has a different definition than what is considered normal.
Pit bulls are a great example because everyone and their mom has a different definition of pit bull and what breed are pit bulls and what % pit a dog needs to be to be considered a pit etc etc.

@alyx This is true for mathematical discussions where you can be infinitely precise with your definitions, but for everything else there will always be enough connotations and assumptions to make every definition slightly ambiguous.
Are you going to argue that conversation outside of pure mathematics is impossible? That's an airtight defense to make and can't be argued against, but it's fucking stupid.
