If you're gonna learn an audio API, go directly for PipeWire. PulseAudio is gonna be phased out.

@alyx Might look at that since I use Pipewire, but I am more worried about now rather than the far future. where Pipewire Pulse is deprecated or something :/
@alyx also not the biggest fan of the idea of it doing audio and video, seems like putting all you eggs in one basket. but that's just my take :/

SDL -> pulse -> ALSA -> kernel syscall -> hardware
Meanwhile pipewire I think at least
SDL -> pipewire -> syscall -> hardware

Makes sense since I hear it actually manages to be low latency.

@alyx in English: pulseaudio is literally just a wrapper on top of ALSA and ALSA was meant to be a wrapper around just asking the kernel nicely to play audio
