welcome to grumbling as to why we don't use more of IPFS or BitTorrent than we do.

I'm curious how similar Syncthing is to the torrent protocol. They have a similar setup, in that clients use a central server to discover each other, but actual traffic just goes peer to peer.
ipfs is basically bittorrent that always uses dht IIRC
