I'm not a big fan of the Romanian language. I find English much more elegant.
One of the things that I absolutely love about English is how easily you can create brand new words, either through altering a prefix/suffix, or by merging or concatenating 2 previous existing words. And the end result sounds just as natural as any other English word.
You really can't do the same with Romanian. No matter how much you try, "băiat-pisică" doesn't flow as easily as "cat-boy".
We literally had to copy the word "weekend", because a literal translation would be "sfârșit de săptămână", which is way too long and unwieldy, and we just don't have a way to make a good alternative.
You guys have a cool way of saying werewolf though. Vârcolac.

Apparently the word has slavic origins. I just looked it up out of curiosity. The word means: having the hair of a wolf.
Interesting considering it is the children of Fenrir that eat the sun and moon in Norse mythology.
I have actually been meaning to look more into the intermingling of Werewolf and Vampire folk stories. Because typically when one thinks of Vampire they think of the Bram Stoker version of them but the older version were very different and at times I've seen some entities referred to as both a vampire and a werewolf from older stories.

I had no idea the word made it into so many foreign media... It feels like other people are using "strigoi" more then us.
Yeah I am familiar with the Warhammer use of the word. I actually have an army of their Age of Sigmar version now known as "Flesh-Eater Courts"
