Cat works so much better than dd just do
cat xyz.iso > /dev/sdX
cat xyz.iso > /dev/sdX

I'm sure it works, but honestly I'd still stick to dd, considering it was developed more with these uses in mind and it probably has more checks in place to ensure data is secure.
@alyx if you don't know what a buffer size is basically it's just how much memory it allocates
