"Quality" is a subjective term. Something that is popular/liked IS of "quality" for the people that viewed & rated it, by an arbitrary criteria of "quality" that might or might not match your arbitrary criteria of "quality".
There is absolutely a correlation between something being popular and it matching the arbitrary criteria of "quality" for as many people as possible.
You might not like it, cause you have other arbitrary criteria, but you're only one person. Just because you're the odd man out, doesn't mean the correlation doesn't exist.
