I don't understand for one second how the fuck could 5G, or any radio frequency for that matter, interfere with plane instruments when they are required by design to have electromagnetic shielding that would protect them from any interference in the first place. This is something even Mythbusters did an episode on years ago, and they couldn't do shit to a plane's instruments.
@alyx @sjw I could see it being an issue but I would assume that the FCC would have gotten involved before the rollout, kind of like they did with some channels on the 5GHz WiFi spectrum in the US.

At the end of the day, considering how easy it is to block 5G signal, I still have my doubts that this tech will ever be deployed successfully.
if they haven't actually verified that in testing by whatever process they have, then they can't consider that true.
@alyx I'm a bit confused as well. Even if the shielding wasn't designed with mmwave in mind it should still block it. Mmwave likely couldn't even reach a plane in flight so this must just be near the ground during takeoff and landing. Landing is especially problematic when in IFR conditions.
My guess is maybe some older models didn't have shielding up to spec and the FAA wasn't going to take any chances. Probably didn't cause any actual interference but there was a very small chance it might.
