i will need to revise my usual policies regarding people, i think.
buying games out of desperation to be allowed any form of human attention has always proven to be a mistake. but i haven't found the correct way to interview people to see if they are "throw you in the ocean" players or mentoring players.
i made the mistake of not phrasing this correctly when it came to dark souls enjoyers and they would say useless stuff like "well we won't do everything for you." turned out, they were ocean players.

quinn, what?
so basically mentoring players are like

okay here's an exercize to learn the maps, go and learn how to do that and come back and we'll talk about how to use medicine items.
ocean players are like

why you no just play 100 ranked matches and git gud? i got gud, how come you are bad?
the first game people were literally butt hurt at me for doing tutorials and learning the game before doing things and then kept getting mad at me for insisting on learning how to find resources before using stuff etc.
another game wasn't too bad there was some degree of "you did it wrong quinn" but for the most part people communicated expectations and still were upset that i insisted on not using something until i had the ability to get them myself.
although those games everyone was playing in a team vs. the world.
the latest one is just a straight up ocean situation in a free-for-all and everyone around are oldbies and speedrunners so when you talk to them they just shrug and are like i dunno bro this is my 80th wipe bro just do optimal play and watch the stock ticker like a hawk bro
