How do you explain the phenomenon of "hope"?

When you think about it, hope is entirely irrational, totally insane. Yet we hope is everywhere, and the greater the distress the stronger hope becomes.

This is why I believe God exists. Faith / hope is such a fundamental part of the intellect I am unable to even consider any other explanation for it.

It's true. I think at some level we intuit God, but are driven away by how humans choose to symbolize him.

If the lost Paradise due to the original sin is true, God elevating the man-ape by gifting it self-awareness becomes plausible. God created the human intellect with the incredibly powerful ingredient of Faith, to preserve the connection even if the individual see no use for it. You do not need to "learn" or "forget" how to hope.

Something like that. I believe the Old Testament and a New Testament without trying to look for "evidence", because what's the use of any evidence in this?

I Trust God, and that's enough for me.

Bigger point for me is that there will never be any evidence for or against the metaphysical.

We have pattern recognition and extrapolation, and that's it.
