I like the idea of electric cars, can't wait for when it'll be worth it for me to get one, but DON'T TRY TO FORCE THIS WHEN IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!
First deal with how you're producing your energy. If you still have gas, coal or oil burning to get a big part of your electric energy, you have other shit to worry about then switching your infrastructure to electric cars.
