star trek meta

in a bizzare war star trek is a rare case of the deontological communism.

their economy basically doesn't exist (probably because of replicators tbh) but they regularly go on about duty this and that.

this means they're probably one of the only instances of a communist that isn't driven by strict utilitarian arguments :blobcatwaitwhat:

Star Trek isn't communism. I really wish people would get that through their thick skull.

re: star trek meta

@alyx they literally don't have money

re: star trek meta

@icedquinn
That's not what makes communism though. A lack of private property makes communism, and we know people still have their own property and businesses.
Picard has a vineyard, and Cisco's father having a restaurant are the easiest examples.

Also, they absolutely have money. Federation credits are a thing.

re: star trek meta

@alyx money exists in the universe it's just starfleet doesn't use them.

the money is for foreign exchange.

Are you really gonna stick with the "I heard it somewhere that it's communism so trust me it's communism" take, with money being your only defense? Cause I've heard a more compelling argument that Star Trek is fascism, that the this low iq take.

:blobcatglare2: i would have thought you'd know better by now than to walk in to a quinn thread and start being rude.
