Oxford University withdraws more than 10 thousand diplomas of children of Russian officials
The Academic Council of Britain's oldest university, Oxford University, has decided to cancel all diplomas issued to the children and other close relatives of Russian officials since 2014. As the university's management explained, they will not receive a refund for their tuition fees.
Oxford refers to the personal sanctions against many Russian MPs, ministers, and oligarchs. Because their children often have several passports and study in Great Britain under false names, it is impossible to establish the real family ties of a particular student and find out if his relatives are under sanctions. Thus, it was decided to revoke the diplomas of all persons connected with Russia, not just those under sanctions.
