I don't get it though. I thought Baldur's Gate was a single player thing. Why the fuck do devs have access to your save files? Why is an invasion of privacy like this accepted in the first place?

Looked around to "educate" myself, cause I don't actually follow the franchise. It seems Baldur's Gate 3 does have multiplayer, but it's only coop. So it's not like a MMORPG, where you have competitive play, and you need to prevent cheating, so I don't see a valid reason why the saves would need to be server side instead of client side.
