Timmy made me consider downloading Wikipedia... I could do it, the download is less than 100GB, I could easily put it on an external backup and just forget about it.
It would theoretically be a good idea in case of an apocalypse, but in reality I'd end up never using it for anything. It's one of those things that I kinda want to do it cause it's cool (geeky), but it's completely useless.

@alyx kiwix archives are cool.
some people were making little wifi hotspots with pi's so random camps had wikipedia access despite not having greater internet access

I find it surprising that the archive of complete articles (without pictures) is about 50GB, and with pictures included is still less than 100GB. I know they're using .webp for images, but it's still way less than I expected. Just how much text does Wikipedia contain?!
