I gotta help family today; their catalytic converter from their truck got stolen. Never knew that this was all too common everywhere with modern trucks. Maybe the precious metals are what led to several theft reports (and maybe some connections to meth because chemistry). I pray that they don't get stolen again (and are protected from other evils).

Buy a car that doesn't need catalytic converters... like a Tesla?
Yeah, I know that's stupid, but this still feels like a more reasonable appeal to get people buying electric cars than constantly screeching and bullying people about climate change.

3/10 good bait.
I'll admit that some of Tesla's features make it compelling (the Model S is tempting), but the longterm repair costs are what make me avoid electric cars (and luxury cars) in general. I'll stick with my ordinary Toyota car, thanks.

Yeah, you would think all-electric would simplify things. But at least with Tesla, when shit does break, fixing it is expensive as fuck. And they keep you locked out of doing your own repairs to the greatest extent possible.

They have special sensors and tools even just to get your tires changed and rotated

If a car could be a walled garden, Tesla would definitely fit the bill
@alyx @sjw @berkberkman no car needs a catalytic converter if you aren't in a faggot state
Saw (and smelled) an early '70s Dodge Dart and lemme tell ya

Fuck CARB. smells like freedom
@alyx @sjw @berkberkman there’s an easier solution: shoot anyone who comes near your car. Cell carriers sell OBD trackers with cell plans that will tell you if your car has been disturbed and it’s usually fast enough to catch cat thieves
