Two high school kids said the n word on video and post it on social media.

They were immediately arrested and charged with hate crimes. The list includes:

-inciting a riot
-commiting a hate crime
-cyber bullying

Both kids were minors under 17 but that doesn't matter to the state. I bet they'll be charged as adults too. Btw felony "cyberbullying" has a max sentence of 10 years, more if its a hate crime.

@Terry
I get being charged with hate crime, maybe I can understand cyber bullying too. But where does inciting a riot fit into this? A simple nigger does not have that power on its own. So what else did they say?

@alyx @alyx I think they're "throwing the book at them." As far as I can tell they just said nigger. The fox news article claims they weren't even in earshot of any blacks.

@Terry
I'm not sure "throwing the book" works anymore for things that are obviously bullshit in the first place.
"Throwing the book" only works when the law you're enforcing is justified. When the law is abusive from the start, you're gonna start getting public outrage.

@alyx @alyx James Fields got over 400 years in prison and he didn't even run over that land whale
@Terry @alyx If I remember correctly, 419 years plus 2 life sentences. That's like naked, open levels of totalitarianism. Like the Alex Jones $1 billion judgment.

It's like how in cartoons, despotic dictators always have that gigantic placard of ribbons on their military uniform for all the fraudulent awards they give themselves.
@alyx @AidanTTIerian @alyx thats probably less time than Darrel Brooks will do
@alyx @Terry I any case, the publicity from this is going to be enough damage to ruin the kids. If anything, I hope the kids double down.
