@Lumeinshin i tried mainline wine. it just gave me some error about some app notification service failing and then wouldn't initialize the display.

Try proton. I've had cases where Proton worked flawlessly while standard wine failed.

I didn't even know what game that was. Did a quick search, and the first thing that came up was the Steam page of the game... Hhmmm... Why would someone need to tinker with Wine, when Steam has proton integrated in it. 🤔
For future reference, you should always look at protondb.com for any game you have issues with. It can provide helpful tips.

I'm seeing a gold score. In any case, it's sometimes helpful to try to use the same proton version other people on there used. I see people mentioning either proton experimental, or proton ge.
