@thor majorities of the eReaders are like this, that is how they keep cost and power consumption low.
I would recommend to have one with physical buttons to turn the pages.
If you want good response time with powerful ARM CPUs, then the price point is on a totally another level.

Yup. Also remember that e-ink displays are inherently very laggy compared to anything else, so even if the CPU is blazing fast, you wouldn't be able to tell. Most of the lag is probably from the display.
