I don't think I knew about Hachiko the first time I saw the episode, but I they definitely did the source material justice.
@Koropokkur @vitalis I think it was because of Nana that I learned about Hatchiko the first time.
they have a statue of him at the station.
one day i was watching nana, about two girls named nana, and one nana started calling the other one hachiko. its like every anime that mentions hachiko is setting you up to be heartbroken.
