That looks nice and all, but how steep would that road (drawn via red brush) be? Don't know about US, but you see roads like this all the time in Europe, that snake around hills, because going straight up would be too steep.
@alyx @PinochetsCommieCopter in the US there are all kinds of roads that are crazy steep. i was in western new york once, and my old 01 camry could barely even get up this one road.

Path of least resistance, paving old foot paths around hills and obstacles rather than doing the labor to cut out the ground and level it out over a long enough distance to make it viable. Arguably a grueling task for third world niggers woking with small sticks and stones.
