Honestly, if someone were to say "based" or "cucked" next to me IRL... that'd be cringe and I wouldn't really want to be next to that guy either. I'm of the opinion that internet slang shouldn't be uttered IRL.
"Normie" just barely makes the cut to being acceptable, but only because there isn't a political association with it. You hear "based" and you probably think of some kind of right-wing, you hear "cucked" and probably think about a male feminist. "Normie" can be about gaming, anime, all sorts of niche fandoms and hobbies.

@alyx @maxmustermann IMO 'normie' is distinctly a word from 4chan, and is cringe to say IRL. (I don't like it, anyway.) 'Based' I could see people using IRL. It's common enough of slang for that.

Also, 'normie' is commonly used to refer to the average person in a contentious tone. It's an insult. 'Based' doesn't offend anyone.

@Nepiant @alyx @maxmustermann I call anyone not a nerd, weeb, social outcast, or basically a gamer. A fucking normie. Especially if they don't see reason or when you tell them the truth they dismiss it and go about doing stupid shit anyways.
