There's a difference between religious faith and ideological utopia. Especially when that ideological eutopia was tried a lot of time and failed everytime.
@applejack @matrix Spiritual vs political/social.
One can consider that there's little difference between them.
One is about faith in a spiritual entity (god for example) while the other one is belief/trust towards either a physical person or sets of rules or both (mao for example).

@mangeurdenuage @matrix Yeah, they're literally different things, but why are they meaningfully different here?

@mangeurdenuage @matrix The point of the meme is that they're blind worship with a utopia as the reward

How are they different in a way that makes that untrue?

@applejack @mangeurdenuage @matrix Perfection cannot be achieved, that's why "utopian" is a pejorative.

Christianity doesn't attempt to establish a utopia in this reality, only using the promise of such to incentivize certain behavior, while communists actually think they can create perfection.

Hence the inevitable and stark difference in outcome.
One look at civilizations produced by Christianity, juxtaposed to those obliterated by communism, makes it pretty clear which is, or is not, a viable system of values with which to organize society.

@diresock @matrix @mangeurdenuage The meme doesn't specify that it has to be established in this reality for some reason

The utopia is the bait the faith is based on, that's the point

@applejack @matrix @mangeurdenuage That's why it's not a good meme, and as others have pointed out, it's also a self own.
