@niplav tips are good but you shouldn't have to rely on them as part of your wage.
My issue isn't that tips are bad, it's that RELYING on tips is bad.

I hope if you are not actively organizing campaigns to raise wages you leave a tip anyway. Otherwise this is just an empty justification for stiffing them and calling it "sticking it to the MAN man!"
