@straw kind of complicated, because there are plenty of places where a 16 year old can fully consent to a 22 year old and it's perfectly legal (it certainly is where I live, and I think that may have changed recently to be even more relaxed). Knowingly sending porn to minors is definitely illegal though so that's fucked up.

The term "pedophilia" is often used as a buzzword (usually as a stand-in for "child rapist") and really just means an attraction toward prepubescent children, particularly one that affects either the child or the pedophile negatively (i.e. causing depression, or physical/sexual harm). You actually have to be 16 years old to be diagnosed with it.

I think a man being attracted to a 16/17 year old is a pretty normal thing, especially someone as young as 22, for totally biological reasons (young, fertile, healthy, etc). The problem here isn't exactly with ages or a question of pedophilia, but a potential issue with manipulating someone, which isn't great regardless of the ages of the people in question. I mean, I can already see the dude is a loser for sending porn to minors, so he's clearly not a good guy, but I don't think a relationship between a 16 year old and a 22 year old is inherently a bad thing or pedophilic in the slightest. Like, 16 year olds can drive and in some places even drink alcohol but for some reason a 22 year old cannot be in a relationship with them? Then you can take it a step further and add 2 years on to both of them, just 2 years, and then is the behavior excusable? Food for thought. It's difficult to think or talk about because it goes against a lot of social engineering, but that probably means it's worthwhile. It's very challenging.

What the person in the reply is potentially missing though, they're getting butthurt about the way "pedophile" is being used instead of being mad at a guy who is clearly a manipulator and a loser. Plus, a 16 year old is still a minor and still has certain protections, so pornography is completely off the table. I'd wager the majority of 16 year olds watch porn in some fashion or another anyway, but knowingly giving it to them is illegal and fucked up. It's why I manually gave people an nsfw role on my old discord server that I knew were 18+ instead of just setting the channel to nswf.
