i've got an efi partition and a 100gb unused partition on this hard drive (don't ask) so i can't actually assign the 100gb to anything and can't erase the efi part in diskmgmt.
i'm getting conflicting info on if diskpart will actually erase ALL the data on the HDD or if it will just erase a partition i select. anyone know?
@Mustard9903 see that's what i thought, but some people were saying that it will delete the ENTIRE DISK regardless so i'm a little wary and don't have any place to backup 400GB lol.
@Mustard9903 do you have a recommendation for a GUI one?
@Mustard9903 definitely sketchy lol but looks like it's just one of those "uncheck a bunch of boxes during the installer unless you want to get buttfucked" things xD
@Mustard9903 unfortunately it only gives me the option to convert from a dynamic disk to a basic disk which i'm pretty sure actually would erase everything xD might have to just suck it up and buy an external or something but at that point i'm spending more money to get back 100gb which isn't exactly worth it lol.
turns out i can't even do it with the free version anyway xD
@Mustard9903 basically i have two partitions on the drive that were meant to emulate the two drives i used to have so i didn't have to do any shenanigans with reassigning drive letters in programs and stuff like that.
then i installed linux on here but i'm going to get an SSD for a linux install soon instead, couldn't really daily drive it with an HDD, too slow. so i nixed the linux install and now i just have this unallocated space separated by the efi partition for the linux install (i'm assuming?).
