how did the cliché of "when you get shot you throw your arms up in the air and spin" get started in Hollywood.
Like in the 50s-60s most of the guys would've had some experience serving in WW2 or Korea or something. You'd think they know what happens when a guy gets shot.

@Halo i think it was for comedy. not exactly haha funny comedy but the traditional meaning of comedy, making something more light-hearted. someone going to the cinema and seeing a guy getting pulped back then would have been really gruesome, probably would have been a whole scandal. i mean you gotta' remember that when the exorcist came out, people were like fainting in the theater and shit. if someone just wanted to watch a good old spaghetti western they weren't going into it expecting to be watching something that seemed like an actual death, just that it was assumed to be a death.
