Yes, he's accurate. You could leave your home, you just couldn't go anywhere. 🙄
@Humpleupagus @furgar @Yurt_Dweller depends on where you lived. i mean, in australia you could only go out for 1 hour a day (2 if you were vaccinated!) and if you wanted to protest that the police would come inside your home and arrest you.
and there was a time when i was given papers saying that i was an essential worker, because if you weren't going to get groceries or something else deemed "essential" you could get fined. all of the public parks were closed so even if we got food from a drive through somewhere we'd have to take it back home instead of eating outside.
so yeah in the usa you could technically leave your house, but if you weren't getting groceries or prescriptions, or going to the doctor or something else essential, then you were technically breaking the ordinances. there was a curfew of like 9pm or something downtown too.
of course there is no way they could have actually enforced a lot of that kind of stuff, but if someone snitched on you they'd be required to.
@Yurt_Dweller @Humpleupagus @furgar what the fuck was i supposed to do? get chik fil a and then sit at a public park only to have someone rat me out and i'd have to pay a stupid amount of money or be put in jail at a time where money was a little rough?
though yeah, what are people really supposed to do in that situation?

@Yurt_Dweller @Humpleupagus @furgar thankfully we had people in the local gov that were battling against it pretty hard, it wasn't too long before restrictions got lifted and mask mandates were changed to recommendations and now businesses can't even require you to wear one.
even while it was a requirement i never wore my mask unless a person physically came up and told me to. got away with it most of the time. had to wear one at work unfortunately, but i was lucky to work somewhere that didn't require me to get vaccinated so i counted my blessings on that one. some of my roommates worked somewhere that did require it, and they basically just kept on saying their appointments were getting canceled or that they'd get around to it until eventually the company didn't require it anymore.
civil disobedience. stuff that won't get you immediately fired from your job or fined, but will cause a bit of a ruckus and get people feeling like they can do that too. i witnessed a few times where we wouldn't wear our masks somewhere and we'd see a lot more people coming in without wearing them.

It was extended once to the end of April. Then was replaced by an EO "Safer at Home".
Some specific businesses like ski areas were closed in mid March.
So for a month you were supposed to stay at home except for allowed activities with a penalty up to a $1K fine.
