I had an energy drink for the first time ever while I traveled (mango loco monster)

it didn't do anything to my energy levels, but it tasted so good. no wonder people drink them

I should not make this a habit

@dommymommy the whole thing has 152mg of caffeine in it and 55g of sugar. i'm surprised you didn't feel anything xD

if i need an energy drink i'll drink a mountain dew kickstart, because it's just straight caffeine without all the other weird herbal supplements in it and only has 20 grams of sugar and 92mg of caffeine, which is the lowest amount of each i've seen for energy drinks. there's less actual juice in it but if i'm drinking an energy drink i don't really care lol, just need something to carry me a bit until i can pass out.

in fact, kickstart doesn't even classify itself as an energy drink lol, it's more or less two mtn dews stacked on top of each other with a lot less sugar and a little less caffeine so i'm good with that.

@beardalaxy I drank it fairly slowly, which might be why it had little effect. coffee seems to have a minor effect on me, but that's also because I usually chug it in the morning :sataniaLaugh:

20 g of sugar is still VERY high, so be careful still! 20g burns through over half of the recommended max sugar count for the day (36g for males)

why an energy drink instead of coffee, though? can you not tolerate the taste of it very well?

@dommymommy well i didn't drink it for 18 years because i was raised mormon and they can't drink coffee, so i just kind of don't drink it at all. i'm not a huge fan of the taste though, i like artificial coffee flavor more. i do like the smell of coffee but the taste, not so much.

but yeah, 20g of sugar is definitely still a decent chunk, but it's certainly not anywhere near as bad as if i were to drink two regular sodas instead which would amount to like 90g+ :) but it also depends on how many calories you consume otherwise, and i actually have a relatively high calorie diet and a ridiculously fast metabolism so things aren't as bad for me as they could be, that's for sure. i'm only really drinking the stuff if i am at work too, so i'm actively doing stuff.

coffee typically has more caffeine in it too, and with hypomania episodes the more of that stuff i have in me the worse it'll be so i try to only drink caffeine if i need to, the less the better. i also get a little worried about seizures, from the caffeine itself to the effect it would have on my sleep. i'm sure i could find some coffee that had a relatively low amount of caffeine in it but i've got something going for me right now that works well enough so i don't really wanna fuck with it. like people telling me to go on keto kind of scares the shit out of me because if my diet changes in a way that my body doesn't like i could literally die.
