okay fan fiction can be pretty cringe inducing.

but i think it's a pretty good way for children and teens to learn how to write stories.

they can take a franchise that they already know and love every facet of and write an original story on top of it.

in elementary school and some of middle school i wrote what was essentially a massive zelda fan fiction, just with different names for characters and places so there wouldn't be any infringerinos. seriously, i basically wrote an entire novel and i still have those journals i wrote it in which is kind of fun to look back on. there's a good 300 pages worth of writing there.

doing that actually helped me get into the groove of writing stuff and ignited my passion for it. i think it is something that should be encouraged.
