Okay, someone on Mastodon please clear this up for me: the character limit of a toot is 500 characters, yeah? If that's so, how do some people post toots that are longer than that?
@thelinuxcast other instances have their own limits. I was on bae.st that let me make posts that were 50k character long. bb.w.lets me make 5k long posts

@MischievousTomato @thelinuxcast pleroma has much larger text limits. gameliberty is on mastodo, an older fork of mastodon, and we have a 65k text limit.
