lol i saw someone say that they don't like zelda anymore because it's "too cartoony."

wtf is this then?

@emma @beardalaxy
Twilight's Princess enjoyers should be put in death camps to improve the state of Zelda discourse.

@book@sneed.social @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club i never had nintendo consoles growing up so i never played the older zelda games. i watched a friend play through it and i wasnt a fan but hes still a good friend so i can't put him in a death camp :Pain:

@emma @beardalaxy I also never had consoles and by sheer coincidence I think that the 2d zeldas (the ones I played) were 10/10 GOTYAY and the 3d zeldas (the ones I didn't play) are 0/10 dogshit. I am very objective.

@Weeble@bungle.online @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club tag urself im botw

minish cap has the nicest pixel art ive ever seen though

@emma@niscii.xyz @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club The switch was the first console (non-handheld) I owned and I havent even beat botw yet.

I just played for 80 hrs and looked at the cute fan art
😔

@Weeble@bungle.online @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club botw blew my mind, there's so much stuff to do. tears is the same. im not gonna be finished any time soon

@emma @Weeble tears of the kingdom is such a massive improvement over botw. i'm so sunk into it.

my first zelda game was wind waker. it's my favorite because i fucking love toon link lol he's just hilarious. if it didn't have the damn triforce quest i'd love it a lot more, honestly i always skip it with cheats when i replay it. tears of the kingdom might have a similar problem to breath of the wild, where the first run through was absolutely amazing but when i tried to play it again i just couldn't bring myself to keep playing after the great plateau sucked all of the life out of me. wind waker has enough charm to carry it completely, i love that game and have replayed it several times. i realize that it's probably not as good of a game as breath of the wild though, not anywhere close. just has higher replay value for me.

vinny vinesauce's favorite zelda game is unironically zelda 2 lol, he plays it every year on thanksgiving.

twilight princess fans just hating wind waker and that's why it is their favorite game is really fucking accurate lol. i've tried to play twilight princess so many times but the intro drags on forever and you have to herd those fucking goats... then you're ripped away from playing as link and have to play as a wolf. just not fun imo. it does have some great level design later on and the music is awesome as well (not as good as WW but no zelda is).

honestly, i hated minish cap. it felt chock full of bullshit and the whole fusing mechanic was really annoying. i can get why some people do like it but i was not a fan.

never played the oracle games. i own link's awakening DX and have picked it up several times and just never really gotten into it, so i always assumed that would be the same thing for the oracles.

@emma @Weeble the only zelda games i have really enjoyed a lot are:

ocarina of time
wind waker
four swords adventures (yes i do like this game and it's the only 2d zelda i like)
skyward sword
breath of the wild
tears of the kingdom

that's cool though, given how many games there are it's not feasible to like every single one of them.

@hj @Weeble @emma someone ported one of those to PC with unity and it's actually somewhat decent in an endearing way. They fixed a lot of shit but it's still cdi zelda hahaha

@beardalaxy @Weeble @emma yeah i played those, still have the files somewhere I think.

If you know history and context for those games it's actually quite a miracle those happened at all and became infamous for the cutscenes.

If you want similar style cutscenes and decent gameplay - try I.M.Meen, it's great (apart the one part where game fucks you over if you fail the final boss and have to restart from scratch manually despite game seemingly putting you at start anyway (item required for defeating boss will be gone))
