Maybe that’s why it’s being legalized everywhere now. I smell it all the time on the street now here in NYC and all I can think is “someone is probably happier” not “fucking hell, RUN!” as with gunshots.

All assault rifles should be illegal. Period. Suddenly, no more school shootings. And if we include handguns, which have only one purpose, I would be down for that, too, but even some of my friends insist on them.

It’s just me. Not here to convince you, just here to offer the PoV of someone in a city of 10 million.

Something legal is no excuse for mass shootings at schools, which are facilitated by the availability of weapons multiplied by immature assholes. It ain’t mental health causing this, it’s accessibility.

@jeff @dworkin I come from educators (both my folks were public librarians and teachers — GI bill recipients). We would all agree that education, specifically public K-12, is a formative experience. That it’s being decimated in the name of power climbs by DeSantis et al is a disgrace imo.

The actual text of the bill is only seven pages, so there's little excuse to not read it. The bill is designed so that parents are given all knowledge about any mental health issues in school. In contrast, schools in places like California keep secret files which parents are not allowed to see.
