@rher Every time they did "behind the scenes" documentaries of great games made in the 2000s the developers would be majority White men, a minority of Asian guys and a few tolkien women and one or two niggers (at most). Today when you look at development teams it's mostly women and minorities. Sad
Reading OP here, its so confusing to me when people say esports ruined gaming lmao. What do they even mean by that?
To give an analogy they're complaining about useless swords created for fencing autism. Tools created to excel in a sort of combat that could never appear naturally. Esports games make changes to satisfy esports bodies, removing or drastically changing mechanics to satisfy people who aren't the core playerbase. CSGO is an esports game and they regularly change the random spread patterns on the weapons in order to balance them for the next major.
Balance changes directed at the highest level almost never meaningfully affect the lower levels in a negative way unless they are poorly thought out, which is a development problem and not a problem with the highest level of play.

Name one example
@deVoid @rher @mmmfeet

poorly thought out

So, every single change Blizzard made to WoW because of PVP?

Meet your Match imo was a good idea very poorly executed, I played the competitive beta and enjoyed it a lot, but Valve was at fault here and not competitive play as a concept. The map pool was questionable and there was no whitelist for one, Competitive CTF_Turbine was something you could actually play and it was horrible. Removing pubs was also extremely questionable.
Blaming esports / competitive play as a concept takes accountability away from the developers and im not about that

@deVoid @rher @Codeki @mmmfeet The existence of esports is not the problem. Developers/companies wanting their product to be esports is the problem.

Follow

@Jens_Rasmussen @deVoid @rher @Codeki @mmmfeet this, definitely. esports need to come around organically, not have a game developed specifically for it.
