The "indigenous peoples" across the world (especially in the Americas) seem to all universally have tales of "White People" that inhabited the land before them. For example, the Inca/Maya (I forget which) that naively greeted the conquistador psychos thinking that they were the benevolent white demi-gods of their legends.
But these legends have another universal trope from what I've seen... These "white people" just up and left for no reason suddenly, with some legends saying that they went north but that isn't clear in all of them.
Did these people receive a "signal"? Did something take over their minds like a remote control or trigger for a hypnotic suggestion?

So you conflate the Inca and the Maya, two very different tribes, and then you spread misinformation. Mesoamerican people were obsessed with cleanliness, when they met the conquistadors they brought incense because they smelled so bad. Of course they must have seen themselves as gods when the mesoamerican people tried to make them bathe.

And lots of things have been "debunked" only to be later brought back up. Legends change and mutate, are forgotten or reworked, sometimes they are made up for profit or propaganda. And I said it was a "legend", not definite historical fact.
A legend can be shat out on a whim for all sorts of reasons... Hell, it could just be a drunk trying to cover for the reason he shat his pants while passed out.
Right now, I'm just looking at weird connections between various narratives, one old and one new.

I’m referring to primary sources, mainly being codexes that weren’t burned or destroyed. You’re just regurgitating propaganda. If all mesoamericans thought the Spanish were gods then there wouldn’t have been countless wars and resistances against them. It’s lazy historical revisionism.

@GaryPaulWood I didn’t major in it or anything but most of my focus was in Mesoamerican anthropology, I’m also familiar with what a few tribes believe due to my proximity and connection to the land.
@GaryPaulWood it depends on who you’re specifically referring to. I have friends whose relatives were medicine women back home. My father considers my grandma a healer as well.

Only those who's bloodline is tied to the first shamans of the baikal region qualify. Everybody else is at best misnamed, or at worst a black shaman, the spiritual equivalent of a leper, through acquired knowledge from dubious sources and spiritual parasites.
There's actually an alarming number of black shamans running around these days as well as two-bit occultists that dabble in pedestrian technician-tier ceremonial and ritualistic magics.
