Wasn't thinking about how my sister's graduation ceremony was in a stadium with security so I ended up having to toss a $300 pocket knife in the bushes around the corner from the entrance which the security clearly found immediately because it was gone when we got out.

I've had that happen to me before, just asked security if they would hold on to it for me until I came back to retrieve it and they were cool with it. Hindsight is 20/20. Maybe they still have it.
If it was a folder I might've done that. Unfortunately it was a switchblade and I didn't want to roll the dice on getting arrested for having it since I don't know the laws in this state.
