@anemone I hate the myth that's been going on forever now that soldiers are the ones keeping us free somehow. If anything they just help perpetuate the status quo.

@beardalaxy @anemone i would agree with the cover art's sentiment, although i'm not sure if we'd agree on specifics.
@beardalaxy @anemone yeah i haven't read the book i just know there are certain rules to handling your military and we don't do them anymore.
@beardalaxy @anemone i remember being particularly livid back in Bush Jr days because they were sending people out in iraq underprotected. so commanders started welding jank armor on to the humvees, since congress refused to pay for body armor and the like. then command got butt hurt and was like "no no don't armor your vehicles that's not authorized." like the industry WANTED everyone to go out and get killed, since high command and congress fought every attempt to protect the soldiers.

then they had the stones to ban stem cell research, which i probably would have had them summarily executed for depending on which quinn was there on the day :blobcatgoogly:

like we're going to lie that you are serving your country, but really you're just helping Mattis fuck around and find out (it turns out he was deliberately doing this just to fuck around with new battle strategies), and the House of Saud maintain its power structure, nothing about that was remotely in the interest of the hegemon's citizens, and we're going to shut down any attempts to fix you after we use up your body :blobcatgooglybadumtss:

:blobcatpensive: my disappointment is, sadly, eternal.
I think everyone remembers Richard Clark's famous "7 countries" quote. The Bush/Cheney/Rummy admin and the military industry that backed them wanted to hit an insane number of countries in four to five years. General Shinseki told them they'd need 300k troops just to hold Iraq and they didn't care or didn't believe him and Iraq went to shit (the documentary No End In Sight (2007) goes into great detail on this).

So of course they're going to skimp on armor, but still spend insane amounts on weapons, tanks and whatever their big contractors are lobbying for. Neither Trump or Biden expanded further into that list ... but I have a feeling next term Trump will have to bomb something after he's installed.

@icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club Based on the blurb on the store page, that's not the issue, it's that the military leadership is too woke: "The War on Warriors uncovers the deep roots of our dysfunction—a society that has forgotten the men who take risks, cut through red tape, and get their hands dirty." eg we don't let are troops commit enough war crimes

@anemone @beardalaxy they have been doing quite a lot of selecting people who they can control vs. selecting people on merit, yeah.

@icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club his description isn't actual merit. The military actually still has plenty of brutal sociopaths who turn every population they interact with against us, just look at JSOC.

@anemone @beardalaxy every so often they circulate a questionnaire if you'd be willing to shoot american civilians. this practice was shelved until obama started it up again (he also signed the repeal of the ban on CIA propaganda inside the USA), and instead of being a survey that creeped everyone out, everyone who said yes started rocketing in promotions.

they need sociopaths, wokes, and ass kissers because the morally correct warriors are tired of following stupid orders

@icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club the last time the US was involved in a war that it could dubiously claim to be morally correct in was before anyone currently serving was even born lol

@anemone @beardalaxy and that's why decades of military lineages are telling their children not to enlist anymore :blobcatgooglybadumtss:
@sun @anemone @beardalaxy the soldiers liked taliban removal its all the other shit they hated
@icedquinn @anemone @beardalaxy I guess it’s arguable destroying Al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan was justified
@sun @anemone @beardalaxy eh.
CIA cashing in on destroying a problem the CIA created.
@sun @anemone @beardalaxy it was pretty amazing how the whole world cycle was terror cell this terror cell that and then suddenly one switch flip and the entire thing is destroyed. like

its almost as though nobody was actually fucking trying :blobcatgoogly:

@sun@shitposter.world @icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club sure but I don't think you can get credit for that when they only exist because your team thought it was a good idea to give billions of dolars to rapist pedophiles to fuck with the ussr

@anemone @icedquinn @beardalaxy at the end of the day the same rules apply to the ussr: they should not have tried to take afghanistan
@sun @icedquinn @anemone @beardalaxy and they arguably did more permanent damage by littering the place with mines, the US at least seems to be more responsible with that
@sun @icedquinn @anemone @beardalaxy yeah russia can definitely have self detonating mines but they obviously don't give a shit even for optics
@sun @anemone @beardalaxy idk why anyone wants that place. dumb sand country, no resources of note. :blobcatupsidedown2:

like alexander the great tried too and everyone just keeps trying to take this fuckin poppy field in the desert and losing all their shit in the process

@sun@shitposter.world @icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club they shouldn't have invaded afghanistan but again, they did because the previous government fell apart because of the gangs of rapist pedophiles the cia armed and trained

@sun@shitposter.world @icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club actually nevermind im not even going to grant that. I mean strategically obviously invading was a disaster but the CIA was destroying the country

@anemone @icedquinn @beardalaxy I don’t think the epithets work because it literally is part of their culture and always has been. Imperialism was the only threat to it

@sun@shitposter.world @icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club no, these elements were greatly amplified via US financing, propaganda, arms and trade.

There are child marrying polygamists in the US in the US. Would you say that's part of our culture? How about if a vastly richer foreign power had been arming and training them and spreading propaganda for them for the past 50 years?

@anemone @icedquinn @beardalaxy it absolutely is here there is poetry about buddhist monks fucking boys
Show newer

@icedquinn@blob.cat @sun@shitposter.world @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club The Taliban, the organization made up of insane rapists armed and trained by the US military? lel

@anemone @icedquinn @beardalaxy the cia did not create the taliban it armed militants that overlapped with who became the taliban

@sun@shitposter.world @icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club the taliban would not be a serious force without the disgusting amounts of resources the cia put into recruitment, training and arming of their predecessors

@anemone like it's almost insulting to tell a Vietnam vet "thanks for your service" because they didn't serve fucking anything, they went into a jungle completely unprepared and got blasted with cancer before losing the war to help randos in a different country.
