I archive a lot of shit. I've been archiving YouToob videos for the past few years. Nearly 20% of my archived collection is no longer available on YouTube:

I wrote a tool if you want to check your collection too:

Would you happen to have collected any of those NASA videos of the sun's heart beat?

By the time I realized that youtube was culling science videos it was already long gone.
I don't think so? If you know the channel name I can check, but I don't recall those ... that is a bizarre thing to cull. Maybe they were on an unofficial channel and the original owners wanted people to go to theirs instead?
@djsumdog
Not sure. A few years back, NASA put a lot of money into monitoring the sun. And, there was amazing videos everywhere. Some showed a literal ripple happening inside of the sun spots.

I've probably spent 100hrs looking for them when I realized they were gone. But, have not found them.
That's suuuuper weird. I need to do a post on "The Disappear Internet" at some point .. it's sad how shitty all of our search engines are right now

@djsumdog
I'd also remind everyone that Google is starting to prune unused accounts starting December.

So imagine internet culture from the 2000s, that doesn't violate any ToS, but just gets erased because the account hasn't been used in two years.

@r000t @djsumdog @hazlin i went to all my old youtube channels and backed up the videos since i definitely don't remember how to get into them. if you know of any old channels with stuff you want to keep you should start downloading them now.

@beardalaxy @djsumdog @hazlin @r000t some kids on discord are using apathy.tv as a reference to study a dead art project called nobodytm because I was smart enough to archive all their videos on it and I think I posted about doing this on 8chan years ago
