He got busted from using gmail as his personal email
This isn't a joke, everything else was watertight but he used his gmail account that he'd had since 2004 for the basic setup of the site and that's how they got him.
They traced the first ever post of silk road back to the gmail since he didnt use a burner and it all came tumbling down. The dude was so fucking good that was the only thing he slipped on otherwise it would still be up today.
