I want to draw some others OCs. I just don't know if there's unspoken rules or a code. Many artists seem to be uptight, while others might welcome it. Are you supposed to just ask first?
@Kommandoh I mean, everyone draws r34 without asking the original artists if they can do that. Personally, I think it is a little lame (and hypocritical depending on the person) to get mad over someone using your OC for art without asking first. Acting like Nintendo.
HOWEVER, if you don't want to make enemies amongst the art community, it's still probably best to ask first and be respectful.

I think so, too. The characters I draw fan art for were also created by artists, but nobody asks them. Holding your OC hostage seems hypocritical to me, but I understand, that's just how it is. There are some OCs I'm very fond of that I'd like to share my versions of, but even asking seems kind of hopeless
nsfw is where it gets touchy, and that's why some artists have to make it clear in the bios
