honestly, i knew it was a problem, but for it to be this much of a problem is insane, there was pretty much no actual talk about the Lord, or our Salvation.
it was all preaching about how we have to fight world hunger, and then about how ukraine is at war.
that is not the problem, the problem is that we did that instead of talking about our God.
here we are, preaching about how we have to do good deeds, meanwhile the reason we do good deeds is just hid under the rug.
a good deed means nothing if the reason you are doing it is corrupted, we do not do them because "it is our responsibility as well off Christians", or even worse, to buy our way into heaven.
and the fact that our land is full of those who do not know, or reject the love of God, and as a reaction instead of doing our part to spread his Love, we focus on earthly and only earthly problems, we do not wish to save others from damnation, but only from earthly suffering.
the man who invited me to church said that in the protestant church "there is no God present", and now i understand what he meant, he is not present because they did not invite him, they read the Holy Book, but that is all they did, they prayed to Him, but not to save us from evil, only to save us from our earthly suffering.
to me, it seems that it is almost a statement that they are "clean", they are saved, their journey is done, now all they have to do is do good deeds until their time comes, that statement i cannot agree with.
as i am only a few months into going to Church, and overall i am not that educated, i still had doubts over the sect of Christianity i am to take part in, but now i know i will not be attending that service ever again, i am not servicing God, his presence was not there.
to think that many Catholics suffer from this lack of Godly Presence in their Churches is very Sad to me, because if our pastor didn't make sure to keep it about God, then i know i would have given up on the faith.
cc @teto, i understand how you feel about your Church now, partaking in a "Service" like that, i almost decided to step out and go home in the middle.

@Jens_Rasmussen @teto @themilkman I'm a pretty firm believer in organized religion being a scam. Jesus wasn't much a fan of it, and the religious people weren't much a fan of Him either. I feel like if Jesus went to any church and corrected them on something, they would have Him expelled for being blasphemous. It happened before and it would happen again.
I think it's fine to go to church if that is how you personally feel the most attuned to the Spirit, or to be with a community of good people, but whenever you see any kind of exploitation or feel like someone else's connection to God is made to be more important than your own, it's time to leave.
No hate, just my thoughts. Perhaps they could be a bit skewed because I grew up Mormon and that's a whole different brand of screwy, but I've experienced other Christian churches since then and heard a lot of stories from other Christians trying to find "the right church." It seems to me like that's the way it is. Just gotta keep a good head on your shoulders and your heart open to the Lord. Not to some middle man, but the Big Man Himself.

i have not grown in a christian household, i have been atheist and then agnostic for a good chunk of my life, the catholic church i go to is a great environment, and the pastor is good and keeps it about the Lord, which i am very thankful for.
granted, i have massive criticisms to the Holy See, the fact that this is just a lucky church and not the standard is disgusting, and it makes it very easy to see why christians have been losing touch to the faith and turned away from it.
