From 2020-2022 my friend ran an amazing D&D campaign. I'll never forget it, he did a great job with it and the memories of my character have melded with my own. I hope that's how all of those old players viewed my campaign too, even if their PCs' stories were never truly finished.

@beardalaxy I still think of a campaign ran by @Groomschild to this day, it was fuckin amazing. So I think you did a great job in making people remember their characters.

Btw I was a rogue, the best one.
@Jens_Rasmussen @beardalaxy @Groomschild exactly as you said, I based my character on the protag in one of Dostoevsky novel whose main thought is the Nietzschean will to power. Certainly those beggars aren't strong enough to oppose me.
@MK2boogaloo @beardalaxy @Groomschild Oppositely, how much power is there to be gained from stealing the belongings of beggars and children?
>Irrelevant to my 7 WIS rogue
@Jens_Rasmussen @beardalaxy @Groomschild I gained exactly nothing but a damn curse from a demonic Pope after trying to pickpocket him. But otherwise, I just like to troll those poor sods.

Though I think you get extra chaos energy from stealing, so be sure to pickpocket everyone you meet!

@MK2boogaloo @Jens_Rasmussen @beardalaxy Next time don't pickpocket a level 20 character cleric of asmodeus

If I had to guess it would be based on the target's perception, I mean that would make sense to me
@kroner @beardalaxy @MK2boogaloo @Groomschild Maybe, but do all NPCs level up perception then? There are a lot of skills that are only relevant for players.
well they at least have a passive perception score based on their stats, and the DM can decide what the DC is based on the situation (if the target is aware of the attempt vs if the target is unaware, etc)

@Jens_Rasmussen @MK2boogaloo @beardalaxy Though for demon pope's case. It was 4d chess trickery because the pope knew kerok will try to pick his pocket. He put a scroll case covered in razor blades in his pocket so kerok will cut himself on it and unintentionally sign the blood contract inside

@Groomschild @beardalaxy @Jens_Rasmussen fuck Malcor, fuck you too for making that happen. My character became a slave unknowingly to a demonic pope! How could this happen to my poor old guy.
@Groomschild @MK2boogaloo @beardalaxy I know devils love making evil contracts with mortals, but doesn't it have to be a contract entered willingly?

@Jens_Rasmussen @Groomschild @MK2boogaloo @beardalaxy You need to willingly mark the document with your blood. The rogue sliced himself on the razors and put "his mark" on the document signing it "willingly."

@Jens_Rasmussen @Codeki @MK2boogaloo @beardalaxy Wouldn't be the first time a devil used a person's own foibles against them

@Jens_Rasmussen @Groomschild @MK2boogaloo @beardalaxy It was his own greed that caused him to shed his blood upon the parchment. He could have prevented this chain of events at anytime, but the thief saw something shiny and lusted for it. So yes, "willingly". So what if his thumb print was in the wrong position. He still made his mark upon the evil magical parchment. . .
