@beardalaxy @Kane I had this happen to me before too. I think old-school you were supposed to draw behind GM Screen, likewise rolling on random tables, and just use it as a starting point. If you don't like the card you pull another. Otherwise it's "too random"

@WandererUber @Kane I actually run a pretty sandboxy game, so i really enjoy when this stuff happens lol. i have a guy in the capital city who will give players 2GP to try out "strange fruit" which has 75 random effects xD

i usually make sure to carefully vet any random table or random item so that no matter what the outcome is, it'll work in the game. i don't have any of the cards that like, basically game end a character instantly for instance.

this time though, they got the deck of many more things THROUGH the deck of many things, and kind of just said fuck it, i'll keep all the non-domt cards in there. apparently that's one of them xD

but it also led to a really cool moment where they revived a dead goddess so that was sweet.
